First Blog Post….Ever!

Hello and welcome to my first blog. I hope you will find it useful and entertaining. As I just turned 30 (yesterday), I thought it would be a great time to start this blog about “adulting”. I have been wanting to start this blog for months, but maybe now I have the courage. I hope to share what I have learned all throughout my 20s (and am still learning), and many things I should have probably learned in high school, let’s be honest.

Now, I had great teachers in high school, but the school was very confined in budget as it was pretty small, with only 53 in my graduating class. There was a Home Economics course, but it doubled as career planning and even in that it wasn’t very helpful (also she was a teacher I really did NOT like…). There wasn’t a personal finance course, or anything that taught you all the ways to get money for college, how to take care of your apartment or house, or how to pay off debt.

So who am I that I think I know enough to teach others? Well I’m certainly not an expert, but I have years of experience in trying things, and doing many wrong, or from hearing others’ stories. Also, I own a house with my boyfriend, and have been working as an engineer for the last 8 years, with a side hustle of teaching piano lessons for the last 5. I am still paying off student and car loan debt and also have a mortgage. I am also on a financial journey for independence, but I’ll get into that in a future post.

For those who are still reading, Thank you. And as a reward? A pretty cool picture. We’re (BF & I) are currently travelling in New Zealand by campervan -so I might be getting a taste of what it feels like to be a digital nomad…who knows. Maybe someday.

The Party Tree in Hobbiton, Matamata, New Zealand

Yeah yeah, it’s a tree and a fence, what’s cool about a that? WELL, that’s just not any old tree. It’s the party tree! In Hobbiton!  And the fence is the one Bilbo leaps over as he’s going on his adventure! Alright it’s symbolic. It’s my birthday and I’m starting a new blogging adventure.  And I’m a bit of a nerd.

Until next time.
