What is this blog about?
Well have you ever been trying to do something and thought to yourself “why didn’t I learn how to do this in school? Most schools focus on helping you past tests or get into the next level of schooling, but so many don’t teach fundamentals of #adulting.
FAFSA? 1040? 401(k)? PMI? IRAs? HSA? FICA? So many acronyms, and that’s just the financial stuff. What about cooking, doing laundry, cleaning, mowing lawn, car maintenance or basic home repair? The list goes on. Sure, you could look up each thing individually, since they’re probably all over the internet, but hopefully this can be a guide that will save you time and money and maybe get you started on a path that doesn’t have you working your same 9-to-5 job into your 70s, because we all know that “traditional” retirement age is just going to keep going up and up, right?
The other part of this blog is to introduce you to a community where you can buy your freedom to pursue passions from a position of financial security. it is called Financial Independence, or FI. Many times it is combined with Retire Early to create FIRE, but the actual retiring is optional. It just means you CAN retire early from traditional job constraints. But more on this later. Actually, more on everything later.
I hope it will be useful for you and I’m hoping to learn some of these things right along with you. I’ve been #adulting for over a decade but I am still learning new concepts or methods, and figuring out which path is the right for me. I won’t have all the answers, but hopefully I can prevent others from making the same mistakes I’ve made and inspire you to build a life you love.
